In the late 1970s, when A New Hope was still in production, Marvel Comics was approached by representatives from the production team to create a run of Star Wars comics as a promotion. Hesitant over the unlikely success of film adaptations based on previous examples, Stan Lee reluctantly agreed, though on the condition that 100,000 copies had to be sold before any royalties were paid. When the film became a smash hit, that 100,000 figure was quickly passed many times over & Marvel continued publishing Star Wars comics for more than a decade, with some of its executives later stating that the run helped save the company. These & later comics, along with novels & video games expanded the Star Wars universe considerably, including not only familiar characters like Luke, Han, Leia & Darth Vader, but curious aliens like 6' rabbits. Sadly, Jaxxon is not represented on this shirt, but many other memorable characters appear. Wearing this shirt isn't likely to attract much female attention, but you'll very likely be the envy of all at your local comic book shop.
