With MLB Opening Day just days away, Team RSVLTS is getting full swing in the mood by introducing four expansion teams to our wildly popular Teddy League Baseball (TLB) series.
For those of you just tuning in: TLB is our series of high-quality, 3D embroidered (just like MLB & MiLB) snapbacks - seriously, as a hat guy these are some of the best in the game - that pay tribute to fictitious pop culture baseball teams located in random cities around the United States.
In this round you're going to see a super special TLB hat for the Hoboken Petes, which is a nod to someone near & dear to the RSVLTS family.
About 3 months ago John came up with the brilliant idea of including Pete in the next round of TLB and the project, which internally was codenamed "The P's" so Pete wouldn't find out in advance.
The sample hat got delivered to HQ under the cloak of darkness, which we strategically revealed to Pete this past weekend during our Savannah Bananas collab outing.
To say he was shocked and speechless is an understatement.
And to sweeten the pot even further, all proceeds from the Hoboken Petes' hat will go to a charity of his choice. So whatever he decides, we're on board for to fully support!
You can watch video of the reveal here (and Pete's astonishment):
Now let's break down the Series II expansion teams, which - BONUS 🚨 - also includes our wholesale guy, Chris (who some of you probably met at our meet-ups before), as the model for this series...
Capistrano Salmon
The first Teddy League Baseball team to ever be relocated, the Capistrano Salmon made their way south from their original home in Aspen. Rumor has it that ownership was looking for "some place warm, a place where the beer flows like wine, where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano" but took a wrong turn and ended up in the Rockies.
Known for giving out huge contracts, the Salmon have the highest payroll in the league, shelling out $900,000,000 in I.O.U.s this season alone.
Hudson Pretzels
Miraculously winning only one game a season, every season since their inception, the Hudson Pretzels always seem to have the worst record in Teddy League Baseball.
When asked if it is simply a coincidence that the one win a year happens to fall on the stadium's promotional "Free Pretzel Day," a team executive (who prefers to remain anonymous) responded: "I wake up every morning in a bed that's too small, drive my daughter to a school that's too expensive, and then I go to work to a job for which I get paid too little. But on Pretzel Day? Well, I like Pretzel Day."
Pawnee Mini Horses
South Indiana's favorite team, the Pawnee Mini Horses, hold the Teddy League Baseball record for most home run robberies. Though on the li'l side, their outfielders can all metaphorically trade their legs for angel's wings, take a running leap and learn to fly, making their impact on the game anything but li'l.
And last but certainly not least...
Hoboken Petes
The Hoboken Petes are the Teddy League Baseball fan favorites. Regardless of the team's batting average, they always bat 1.000 in customer service, consistently topping the list of fan happiness in the annual league survey.
Having a weekly promotional "Free Whiskey" night at their stadium likely has something to do with it too.
